Preview: Town - Owls

STB brings you team news, manager previews and betting odds ahead of Towns game against Sheffield Wednesday tomorrow (KO 3:00pm).

Town will be without Simon Walton who suspended while Billy Clarke, Gavin Williams, Owen Garvan and Lewis Price out with injuries. Fabian Wilnis is back after a ban and Jon Macken is in the squad after a hamstring injury youngsters Sammy Moore and Darryl Knights have also been included.

 

Town Squad: Barron, Bruce, Currie, De Vos, Drobny, Harding, Haynes, Knights Lee, Legwinski, Macken, Moore, Naylor, Noble, Peters, Richards, Roberts, Sito Castro, Supple, Wilnis.

 

Town manager Jim Magilton: “With the injuries we had last week at Burnley, we went with one up front but I definitely will be looking at someone to partner Alan Lee against Sheffield Wednesday, there will be changes to the side from last week but it will be about getting the 11 players that we feel are best suited to getting a win for us.”

 

Adding: “But Brian Laws has taken charge of a great football club and I wish him every success there, starting from Sunday!”

 

Goalkeeper Mark Crossley will replace Brad Jones who has returned to Middlesbrough after his loan spell ended, Richard Wood and Peter Gilbert are out while club captain Graham Coughlan is a doubt with a hamstring injury.  

 

New Wednesday boss Brian Laws: “We're not changing things just yet, we're just implementing little things. They have had a winning formula so I don't want to tinker too much, why do that when it's not broken? They have been doing the job really well and playing with confidence so there will be no major changes in the same at all. It will be the same team that was involved in the last game other than Mark Crossley, which has been forced upon us.

 

“We have evaluated them with match reports and video analysis, they are a good side. Ipswich are a club steeped in tradition and have a theme in the way they play with attractive football. The supporters expect that and Ipswich have shown that, if you let them play, they'll hurt you as Luton found to their cost recently. But there are a couple of areas where you can hurt them which we can work on, though we must be aware of their threats.”
