Currie Expecting Exit

Town midfielder Darren Currie firmly expects to leave Portman Road in the summer when his current contract expires.

The 32-year-old made his first start for Town in four months against Leicester yesterday but he still expects to leave Town in June.

 

Currie: “It was great to be back in the side on Saturday, although the result was obviously very disappointing, the legs were a bit tired at the end because it was my first game for a while but I'd loved to be involved again at Watford on Saturday.

 

“I've been training hard and will always give 100 per cent. The gaffer and the coaching staff know that and if I am given another opportunity at Watford, I will be ready for it.

 

“I've spoken to Jim a few times this season at length and he has been very honest with me and very helpful and I appreciate that.

 

“The feeling is that my future will be away from Ipswich. It will have to be the right deal for Ipswich, the right deal for Jim and the right deal for me but the chances are that I will be moving on at some stage.

 

“You never know in football though. I'm just taking it one day at a time.”
