Town midfielder Darren Currie says he is looking forward to the chance of making a new career for himself in the United States.

Currie flew to LA this morning for a two week trial with MLS side LA Galaxy and he says he is looking forward to it.

Currie: “It's an exciting opportunity for me and I'm really looking forward to it.

“This season has been a difficult one for me because for long periods I have not been playing and any footballer will tell you that it's all about being out on the pitch.

“Jim has been great to me though and said he wouldn't stand in my way if I wanted to go over to Los Angeles and see what's going on.

“It's a two week trial. No more than that at this stage and I will see how things develop from there. I've had a great time at Ipswich, met some fantastic people but with my contract up in the summer, it looks like I will be moving on.

“I have always thought about the possibility of playing abroad and this is a great opportunity for me to see how football works somewhere else.”
