PMS: Town 2-1 QPR

Sadie (Shady Blue Lady) is back giving us her own unique look at Town’s game against Queens Park Rangers yesterday.

As the teams came out, I stood chewing on my pen wondering ‘Can I afford a season ticket?’ I don’t know why I was thinking about it because just as well I knew I could not afford one, I also knew I was going to get one anyway.

Now I’ve given you that piece of useless information the teams prepare for kick off, then switch ends, oh I despise that, I just thought I’d let you know.

The Town side today consisted of 10 skinny little runts, and De Vos.

Price, Wright, Bruce, De Vos, Harding, Peters, Legwinski, Garvan, Roberts, Lee and Walton, on the bench are: Supple, Richards, O’ Callaghan, Haynes and loanee Jeffers. Sito and Clarke generally jog around the pitch. (Aston did not notice this as his sights were elsewhere).

In the 1st minute QPR have a free kick taken by Cook (Is it me or are today’s programmes unusually small) anyway the kick is saved by Town glove man Price and a corner is given, the ball comes into the box bouncing around an appeal against Town is made for handball, it is not given but another corner is, and another, finally a goal kick.

Onto the 4th minute and play is still yet to reach the depths of the QPR half, oh now it has, lets try that with a goal, d’oh! It didn’t work. Well Wright is bringing the ball up for Garvan who finds Harding who then finds Lee who receives a shove in the back by Damion Stewart, ending Towns run.

Lee is pushed again on 6 minutes this time winning a free kick just outside of the visitor’s box, Garvan takes the kick and sends it straight into the 1st defender.

On 7 minutes Bruce kindly gives away a corner, then onto 8 minutes Legwinski safely end the ball back to Price away from Towns sloppy defence and as I look up after writing that I’m just in time to see Roberts in the centre of the QPR box blasting the ball wide.

Adam Bolder wins a free kick from Legwinski on half way, the kick is taken and Town appeal for a handball nothing is given but the visitors are offside anyway.

In the 12th minute the so called action is end to end then a Town fan is upset with Peters for trying to cross the ball instead of passing back to Garvan, yeah because he can totally see what we can.

On 15 minutes Peters hits the back of the net, the wrong side but it hit the net none the less.

Rowlands shots through a crowded box on 17 minutes, Price makes the dive but the ball is wide anyway.

On 20 minutes Lee is showing what he is worth with a run down the right, and when he trips he actually jumps straight back up and battles on, a bit more of that please!

Gareth Ainsworth is booked for having long hair in the 22nd minute oh and for a late tackle from behind on Harding, I can relate, I’m terrible at time keeping.

Roberts win a free kick on 24 minutes after receiving a slight nudge, Walters gets onto the shot which QPR keeper Lee Camp blocks but no one follows up on the loose ball giving Camp time to reclaim the ball.

A good team effort from Town starting at the back, works the ball up field toward their attacking goal, Lee reaches the strike, sends the ball over Walters and Camp and into the net, Town are a goal up and it has been such a long time that I’ve forgotten how to cheer.

Cullip falls over in front of the North stand- not a good idea then a minute later Roberts sends a cross in but no one responds.

On the half hour Bruce gets a whacking in the ging gang goolies, that’s going to hurt later.

Onto 35 minutes QPR are currently running play and it’s thanks to Price that Town are still a goal up.

Town have a corner in the 38th minute before QPR ineffectively counter attack and Cullip is falling over again.

On 41 minutes De Vos is standing around as play goes on around him and then on 42 minutes I discover I have too many yellow skittles and I don’t like yellow skittles.

Walters attempts a shot around 30 yards out in the 44th minute forcing a good save from Camp.

2 minutes are added on at the end of the 1st half during which, urm, nothing happens.

The sun is out for the second half, that means only one thing- half of the Cobbold stand are blind.

As the match re starts crazee is skipping around in front of the Britannia stand and the 1st few minutes are controlled by the visitors until Walters intercepts a ball from Stewart and passes the ball on for Peters but as play goes up QPR take control again.

A low head from De Vos forces a good save from Camp on 50 minutes then a minute later Earnshaw’s an alien and we have a ball in the gutter before a fresh ball is supplied and Camp again denies Town a higher lead.

In the 54th minute everyone is falling over in the QPR box, penalty appeals are heard but nothing given as Walters sends the ball over the line and into the net it’s 2-0 and no one deserves having their name on the score sheet more than Walters today.

A strong shot from Rowlands is denied by quick acting Price and Bruce is down needing treatment from the one and only Dave Williams, lets hear it for the physio! Wahey!

On 58 minutes my jawbreaker lasted just 12 minutes and there is rubbish on the pitch, and a bit of litter too! Then on 60 minutes I only just notice that one of my brothers has not arrived at today’s match.

Ainsworth is replaced by Furlong on 62 minutes then as nothing is happening I start designing a football on my chewing gum.

Camp pulls off another Brilliant save from Walters again on 69 minutes then as usual our defence are caught napping Furlong takes his chance getting a goal back for the visitors. It’s 2-1 and Walters is replaced by Jeffers.

It’s Legwinski slipping over now and I finish sculpting my chud, if there was something to report then I would but there isn’t, it’s crap, I could always make it up but if I was doing that we would currently be winning 6-0 and would already be crowned champions.

Lomas is needing treatment in the 78th minute after banging his head during which Jones and Furlongs efforts count for nothing as the ball goes wide of the goal. Lomas models his fancy head gear, sorry mate it’s not quite Cech style is it, and is replaced by Jimmy Smith.

Jones is down needing treatment this time as Haynes replaces Peters on 83 minutes then in 85 minutes a very bad ball comes from a very pretty Price and goes straight to the control of Furlong but Harding recovers the ball for Town.

Jones is booked after bringing Harding down in the Town half, Price takes the kick, then as play comes back down Town have another free kick for Bruce having his shirt pulled again the kick is taken in the Town half by Price.

4 minutes time is added at the end of the 90 during which Harding is booked for a late challenge giving QPR the free kick, as soon as the ball is kick a kick is given the other way for obstruction in the box, Price sends the ball up and into the QPR half where another free kick is given against Town for offside and then Furlong is offside so it’s Towns kick again.

With 2 of the 4 minutes left play continues during which Furlong gives Town one final scare but can’t get the ball on target.

For someone who was blowing his whistle every few seconds referee Mr. Lewis suddenly has lost his whistle as we await the final blow, and wait… and wait… and wait some more. Finally after 7 minutes injury time Mr. Lewis finally finishes the match and gives the Tractor Boys a desperately needed 3 points.
