De Vos Blasts Board Idea

Town captain Jason De Vos has blasted a football league board idea to use penalty shot outs to decided drawn games.

The idea was suggested recently at a League meeting and its meeting with mixed reactions and De Vos hates the idea.

 

De Vos: “I don't see it working and I don't think it will be well received in the game, maybe it will be exciting for the fans but I don't think it's any way to settle a football game.

 

“You can go away to a club and work really hard and come away with a well earned draw but performances like that could become papered over by the result of a penalty shoot-out.

 

“I can also see teams putting on penalty specialists in the last few minutes of games knowing they are going to be used in the shoot-out.

 

“Football is about 11 guys working hard together to get a result. It should not be about one v one situations and that is what penalty shoot-outs are all about. The idea will 'americanise' the game over here.”
