Bruce On Standby

Town defender Alex Bruce has been placed on standby for the Republic of Ireland squad for their games this week.

The Republic take on Wales on Saturday and Slovakia next Wednesday as part of their 2008 European Championship qualifying campaign.

 

Bruce: “Playing international football is one of my ambitions and it's a great thrill to be on standby for the squad. I'll be waiting by the phone!”

 

Alex is able to play for Ireland because of his grandmother.
