PMM: Town 5-1 Barnsley

Reaction from Town manager Jim Magilton following Town’s 5-1 win against Barnsley at Portman Road earlier today.

Jim: “It was a great result for us and we played some good stuff all through the game, we could have had more than five but I can't have any complaints and it sets us up nicely for Monday.

 

“We left Gavin Williams out because there was no point in risking him getting a yellow card and missing two games.

 

“George has been desperate to play and came in and did well. He grew into the game and scored a terrific goal.

 

“The first goal was crucial and it gave us the platform to build on and Danny's goal was also vital because it gave us that two goal cushion just after they had got back in the game.

 

“Jon Walters deserved his goal in particular after working his socks off and after winning 5-1 there is a temptation to leave things as they are but two games in three days is tiring and we will look to introduce a few new bodies at Hillsborough.”
