PMM: Town – Cardiff

Reaction from Town manager Jim Magilton following Town’s 3-1 win against Cardiff at Portman Road earlier today.

Jim: “We started the game really well and passed the ball superbly, it was a terrific ball from Owen Garvan and when you get someone of the calibre of Franny Jeffers on the end of it there is only going to be one outcome.

 

“We got a bit sloppy though and Cardiff got a deserved equaliser so we spoke at half-time about setting the right standards and getting more urgency in our play and we saw that after the break.

 

“Jon Walters took his goals well and we deserved the win. All in all, a great day's work but we have finished 14th in the Championship and we won't settle for mediocrity at this football club.

 

“The signs are there that we are making progress and looking at our form lately, the season is probably finishing too soon for us.

 

“We have been talking about being consistent all season and our finish has been encouraging in that respect.

 

“All credit must go to the players. It's been a tough year for them with a new manager, new ideas. They have got to get some rest now and come back fresh for pre-season because I want everyone firing from the first whistle next season.”
