DS Confirms Wright Talks

Town Chairman David Sheepshanks has confirmed that Town have held talks with former Town goalkeeper Richard Wright about a possible return to Portman Road.

The 29-year-old goalkeeper has been released by Everton after only making 2 appearances for the Toffees last season.

Mr Sheepshanks: "We have had a discussion with Richard Wright and he has gone on holiday to review his options.

"When a player is released on a free transfer then the remuneration package has to be right for the player but it is also about which club the player wants to go to. We could not compete with Rangers financially for example but there are many other factors for a player to consider and we hope Richard wants to come back to us."

Mr Sheepshanks also confirmed Town are in negotiations with Blackburn about a possible deal for Francis Jeffers, adding: "We are still in discussions with Blackburn Rovers but it is not likely that anything will be resolved this week. I can say no more than that at the moment."
