Town Eye Top Friendlies

Town manager Jim Magilton is still hoping to have at least one top club visit Portman Road before the start of the new season in August.

Town were talking to Tottenham about having a game at Portman Road at the start of August but Spurs are now touring South Africa instead but Jim is still hoping for top class opposition before the season starts.

Magilton: "I would like quality opposition in the two weeks or so before the season kicks-off.

"At least one of those games will hopefully be at Portman Road. It could be opposition from home or abroad. I'm not too worried but I do want us to have a hard workout.

"Macca is speaking to a number of Premiership clubs but so many are on tour abroad when we want to play because the Premiership season kicks off a week later than the Championship."
