Town have made a second bid for Blackburn Rovers striker Francis Jeffers after having a bid rejected last week by the Ewood Park side.
Town had a bid of £350,000 rejected for the striker, who scored 4 goals in 9 appearances while on-loan at Town towards the end of last season but they have now gone back to Blackburn with an improved offer.
Town chairman David Sheepshanks confirmed this, saying: "We have been in contact with Blackburn Rovers and made a second offer to them for Franny, he is definitely a player that Jim would like at Ipswich Town and we are waiting to hear from Blackburn."
Town manager Jim Magilton added: "Franny is obviously our first target. We saw his quality in the short time he was here and he gave everyone a lift, we have other players on the radar as well and will look to move things forward but there are so many factors that come into signing a player that it inevitably takes time."
