Jim Eyeing Strong Friendly

Town manager Jim Magilton is hoping to add another strong side to the list of pre-season fixtures for Town after adding Panathinaikos to the list yesterday.

Town will play Panathinaikos at Portman Road just six days before the football league season gets underway and Jim is hoping to add another stern test to the list before the Panathinaikos game.

Jim: "They are a top European side who have been regulars in the Champions' League so it will be a good game for us, it will only be a week away from the start of the season when we play them so it will give us an idea of where we are in terms of preparation.

"Panathinaikos also provide us with different opposition to what we have in the build up. You would expect them to keep the ball well and be difficult to break down.

"Pre-season games are all about getting players fit and getting the right balance in opposition. You want matches when you have plenty of the ball and matches which are very competitive.

"Panathinaikos will be strong opposition and ideally we'd like another friendly along similar lines."
