Town striker Dean Bowditch has undergone surgery on his groin to try and cure a problem that has been troubling him since the turn of the year.

Dean has been in working with a specialist to try and avoid surgery but the treatment had not been as effective as hoped so Town were left with no other choice other then to operate on Dean who will now have two weeks rest before starting training again.

Town physio Matt Byard: "It was felt that an operation was required to best aid Dean's recovery.

"The surgery went well and we are very optimistic about a good recovery.

"Dean has been working on a strengthening programme through the summer and we have been monitoring his progress on a daily basis. The work he has already done will help his recovery post surgery.

"He will now have two weeks complete rest and then begin his rehabilitation and be back in full activity as soon as possible."
