George Rejects Seagulls

Town midfielder George O'Callaghan has turned the down the chance to join League One side Brighton and Hove Albion after failing to agree personal terms with the south coast side.

Town accepted an offer from Brighton for the 28-year-old, believed to be worth £75,000 and allowed the player to talk to the club about a move but after talking to the club he has decided to stay at Town for now.

George: "It would be a shame to leave Ipswich because the supporters have been brilliant to me, even though they never saw enough of me, and all the lads are fantastic, but I need to be playing regular football."

Town chief executive Derek Bowden says the deal is not yet dead, saying: "We have accepted an offer from Brighton for George and he and his representative have had discussions with Brighton but no agreement has been reached so far, it's possible both parties will talk again before the transfer window closes."
