Trio Pulled From Squads

Owen Garvan and Billy Clarke have both been forced to with draw from the Republic of Ireland U21 squad because of injury while Tommy Smith has been forced to withdraw from the England U18 squad.

Garvan was named in the squad for both the Republic's two European Championship qualifiers this week while Clarke was named in the squad to face Bulgaria on Tuesday night but now neither of them will take place in either game. Owen has picked up a calf injury while Billy has a thigh problem.

Town physio Matt Byard: "Owen's calf is still a problem so unfortunately he has had to be pulled out of the game next week as well, it's touch and go whether he will be fit against Cardiff. He will continue to be monitored and we will see how he progresses.

"We have also pulled Billy out of the squad. He's picked up a thigh injury in training this week and will be staying behind for treatment. Like Owen, it's a question of looking at him later next week and taking it from there."

Tommy Smith has been withdrawn from the England U18 squad for the game against Ghana after injuring his knee while playing for Town's reserves.
