Alexander Joins Rangers

Town goalkeeper Neil Alexander has just Scottish footballing giants Rangers from Town, just six months after he first arrived at Portman Road.

The 29-year-old joined Town on a free transfer from Cardiff during the summer and has been an ever present in the Town line up this season but Town wouldn't stand in his way when Rangers made an undisclosed bid for him and Neil thanks them for that.

Neil: "I have to thank Jim Magilton and Ipswich for giving me the chance to come back to Scotland and join Rangers, when Jim told me that Rangers had come in for me, he said that it was an opportunity I might never get again and I agreed, it was just an easy decision to make.

"I had a great time at Ipswich but joining one of the biggest clubs in Europe was an opportunity I couldn't let pass and I want to thank Ipswich for not standing in my way."

Town manager Jim Magilton added: "It is a dream move for Neil and we couldn't stand in his way, he is back in the Scotland national squad and we are aware that he is very keen to push his international ambitions and a move back to Scotland will enhance that.

"It has been difficult for his family to settle in the area. Their friends are in Scotland so a move to Rangers makes sense for many reasons. It's a great opportunity for him and we wish him well.

"We are now lining up a replacement from the Premiership and are confident we will have a new 'keeper in place inside the next 24 hours."

Wigan goalkeeper Carlo Nash is reportedly the ‘keeper Town are after, with Steve Bruce wanting to loan him as he now recovered from a broken leg. West Ham's Richard Wright may also be linked with a return on-loan after Town made a contract offer to him in the summer.

Who would you like to see in goal for Town for the rest of the season? Leave your view below.

Could the new keeper be Thomas Sørensen? He's very keen to move on as he is 3. choice at the time.

Since im a Dane it could be great with Sørensen in Town ;D

A danish football webside is suggesting that Ipswich had been into talks with Sørensen for a move.

If we don't sign Bywater, could he then be a prospect for next season? He is pure class.
