Nugent Linked

Town have been linked with a loan move for Portsmouth striker David Nugent, once the emergency loan window reopens.

Nugent is currently out of favour at Fratton Park and could find himself even further down the pecking order as Benjani's transfer to Manchester City could collapse after the Manchester based side tried to pull out of the deal, leaving Nugent below, Jermain Defoe, Niko Kranjcar, Milan Baros, Muntari, Kanu as well as Benjani in Harry Redknapp's squad, something which can't be pleasing for a striker with an England cap.

If Nugent were to join Town on Thursday when the loan window re-opens he wouldn't be able to play for Town in the play-offs, should they make it, but if he joined on the 22nd of February he could play in the end of season knockout contest.

Nugent has scored 7 goals in 6 games against Town but he is not the only striker Town have been linked with, Sheffield United pair Danny Webber and Rob Hulse and Coventry's Leon Best.

Why do we keep getting linked with strikers?

Only West Brom, Watford and Stoke have scored more (we have 47 goals, WBA have 65 Watford have 49 and Stoke 47) its the defence thats weak at the minute, but not by much

He's only just had surgery aswell. I don't think we need him, Lee and Lazyboy are doing fine already.

if jim got him it would put the wind up our centre-forwards, his record speaks for itself in this league, but without a doubt a good centre-back is required
