Report: Town 1-2 Watford

Town's unbeaten home run finally came to an end today when Watford left Portman Road with all three points after a 2-1 win.

The first 30 minutes of the game were a stop start affair with referee Andy D'Urso awarding some strange free kicks for both sides, a total of 20 in the first half but only one booking, John Eustace being booked for handball.

Pablo Counago had an effort cleared off the line before Watford took the lead after 33 minutes when Tommy Smith, who moments earlier had been rolling around on the floor with an "injured" ankle, was given a free header from Matt Sadler's corner.

Town's best chance of the second half came when Alan Lee lobbed Watford ‘keeper Richard Lee but his effort hit the bar.

Nathan Ellington made it 2-0 to Watford after 56 minutes when he fired home from 12 yards.

Jon Walters pulled a goal back for Town with 19 minutes to go, but his effort from six yards proved to be nothing more then a consolation. Town cling on to 6th in the table, ahead of Crystal Palace and Hull on goal difference alone.
