Report: Town 2-0 Charlton

Town climbed back up to 8th in the Championship following a 2-0 win against Alan Pardew's Charlton Athletic at Portman Road earlier today.
Both sides had chances in the opening exchanges, Alan Lee fired over when through on goal in the opening minute, Bruce forced Nicky Weaver to tip over the bar while at the other end Bruce blocked Leroy Lita's effort and Darren Ambrose headed onto the bar.
Town took the lead after 20 minutes when Owen Garvan's cross-shoot looped over Weaver hitting the back post before going into the net.
Alan Lee was booked for driving after going down in the box under a challenge from Darren Ambrose.
Ambrose thought he had levelled the scores for Charlton, only for the offside flag to be raised against the former Town midfielder, Ambrose again had the chance to score for Charlton but he fired well over from Holland's pass.
Alan's Quinn and Lee both headed over for Town before the end of the first half while Lita fired straight into the arms of Bywater and also found the back of the net with another effort but was given offside.
Charlton came out fighting in the second half, Jerome Thomas had a shot deflected over but it was a former Charlton man who scored the 2nd goal of the game, Danny Haynes who was released by Charlton as a youngster came back to haunt his former club when he fired home from 20-yards after Charlton had failed to deal with a Town corner properly.
Shefki Kuqi was introduced with 19 minutes left to play when he came on to replace Pablo Counago. Charlton again thought they had the ball in the net but this time Chris Iwelumo was caught offside.
Owen Garvan made an ambitious shot from 40 yards when the ball was cleared to him, his effort was caught easily by Weaver. Town ended the game with just 10 men after Shefki Kuqi went off injured.
The 3 points put Town ahead of Charlton on goal difference on 56 points, 8th in the league.
