Singing The Blues messageboarder Leggi is back giving us an insight into Town’s opposition this weekend Town travel to Burnley.
Town make their dreaded first away trip of the season on Saturday, travelling the 232 miles to Turf Moor, Burnley, and looking for a vast improovement on our measly 3 away victories last term. The Lancashire outfit finished just 7 points behind Ipswich in a very respectable 13th position last season, after a woeful start, winning just 1 league game in the first 10, which saw the end of Steve Cotterills reign as gaffer in November. Former Bolton midfielder Owen Coyle took the helm later that month and led 'The Clarets' up the League into mid-table security.
Only Watford and West brom had a better away record last season with more victories than Burnley's 9, whilst it was at Turf Moor where they suffered, having the worst Home record in the whole Division with just 7 wins, only 2 of them coming in the first half of the campaign.
Whilst Town were being beaten by a very poor Preston side last week, Coyle's Clarets got off to an awful start to their own season at Sheffield Wednesday, thumped 4-1, they currently sit bottom of the laughable League ladder. Like Ipswich, they got back to winning ways in the Carling Cup on Tuesday beating Bury 2-0 at Gigg Lane.
Summer signing Martin Paterson has scored all 3 Burnley goals so far and he will be looking to add to that as he makes his Turf Moor bow on Saturday. He will certainly be the player to watch for Town as he looks to better the 14 strikes he got for relegated Scunthorpe last year.
In the corresponding game last season, Town were 'robbed' of victory in the last 5 minutes when a clearly onside goal from Pablo Counago, was chalked off for offside, Town eventually having to settle for 2-2 draw, despite being 2-0 up in the first 10 minutes with goals from Alan Lee and Sylvain Legwinski.
At Portman Road in December the points were once again shared, this time a 0-0 stalemate.

Ray Crawford leads the all-time scoring list once again, with 7 goals, Ted Phillips got 5, While Alan Lee and Pablo Counago come next in-line with 3 a piece.

Leggi predicts: With a good win under our belts on Tuesday, all be it, against an average League one side, Jim will have a few selection problems coming into this game, Walters and Haynes had impressive games in midweek as did young Chris Casement, Garvan looks to be getting into the box more this season too. how will Jim play it though, our winless away run last season was caused I feel by Jims negative attitude and playing just one up top, with Lee, Counago, Lisbie, Walters and Haynes baying for the frontmen roles, its a decision alot of managers would want but who will he pick? I'd go for Lee and Lisbie to start and see how they work, we certainly looked more goal threatening on Tuesday when both of them came on. And I'd give Danny Haynes a sub place, mainly because of his poor efforts in awaydays last season. Whoever plays though, we, I feel have a more talented squad and I think we'll 'nic' this game 2-1 after a very disappointing last 2 visits up there.
