STB Message boarder Leggi is back once again giving us an insight into Town’s opponents, on Wednesday Town face Wigan.

Wigan make the long 236 mile trek down to Suffolk on Wednesday night, for only the fourth time in their history, looking to progress to the fourth Round of this season's Carling Cup.
The Latics kicked off their 2008/09 campaign with two defeats, 2-1 on the opening day at West Ham followed by a 1-0 defeat at the JJB Stadium against Chelsea. They did however, gain their first victory the following weekend in emphatic style, walloping 'new boys' Hull City 5-0 at the KC Stadium. A home 1-1 draw with Sunderland 10 days ago followed by a goalless encounter with struggling Spurs at White Hart Lane on Sunday completes the Latics Premiership campaign so far. With Wigan sitting in 14th place in the table, identical to the position they finished last season, on the 'magical' 40 point total.
In the Carling Cup Steve Bruce's men eased past Notts County in the second round at the JJB Stadium. He picked a very strong line up and the top flight outfit eventually winning by four goals to nil.
Incidentally, it was in this same competition, that Ipswich and Wigan had their first ever meeting. I recall the game at Wigan's old Springfield Park Stadium back in 1992, it lashed it down with rain for the second round 1st leg tie, Town coming away with a 2-2 draw with goals from Gavin Johnson and a Robertson own goal. Ipswich won the 2nd leg at Portman Road by four goals to nil, with another Johnson goal and a Chris Kiwomya hat trick for Town.
Back to Wednesday's game now, and The Latics attack will be 2 of either England Striker Emile Heskey, Henri Camara or summer arrival, Amr Zaki, who, between them have notched 8 of Wigan's 11 goals this season.

Our only loss came in a Nationwide Division one game in February 2004, goals from Ellington, Roberts and Teale for Wigan helping them to a 3-1 win, Shefki Kuqi replied for Town.
The highest attendance watched a live Sky game which turned out to be a real Christmas cracker in 2002. 28,286 saw Leighton Baines strike a 25 yard screamer for The Latics, A Richard Naylor equaliser and a last minute Darren Bent lob, to win it for Town which put us top of the league, going in to the festive period.
The lowest gate watched the League Cup encounter in 1992, just 7,305 turned up on the cold Tuesday night.
With just 7 games played between the clubs over the years, its unsurprising that our all time leading scorer against The Latics is Chris Kiwomya with a measly 3 goals, Gavin Johnson got 2.
19 players have worn the blue and white of both clubs, they include, David Lowe, 'keeper Mark Grew, Jason De Vos and own goal extraordinaire Titus Bramble.
Leggi Predicts,: A chance for us to have a welcome break from The Championship, and pit our wits against Premiership opposition, Steve Bruce's men are now a well established top flight side and its going to be a real test for our under achievers on Wednesday night. With Heskey up front, Naylor and McAuley are going to be in for a tough physical evening, but we have nothing to lose, so all the pressure is going to be on the side from the JJB. If we get going early on, and don't sit back on a one goal lead, we can win this. I'll predict 2-1 to Town.
