Town manager Jim Magilton was happy with Town's performance against Wigan earlier this evening, despite the 4-1 defeat.
Jim: "I could not have been happier with our display in the first-half and we could have been two or three goals up, we passed the ball well and created the better chances for the first hour or more and on another day could have been two or three goals up before they scored.
"We paid the price though for some sloppy defending with three of their goals coming from set-pieces and you can't afford to do that against Premier League opposition.
"I wasn't sure about why the free-kick was given for their first goal. Heskey had his head low and it looked like Ivan got the ball fair and square.
"But we can take plenty of positives from the game and there was a lot of encouraging play from us that we need to take on from here."
It don't matter how well we played, we did'nt get the ball in the net as many times as them, which is the aim of the game James!!!! Besides even if we'd have won you'll change the effin team again on Saturday!!!!
Leggi, you have to be realistic, prem teams usually take their chances, i watched the prem highlights when Wigan went up to Hull and won 5-0, now on the surface that looks like a good stuffing but if you watched the game Hull had many chances but didnt convert any.
That my friend is now the difference between championship and premiership, our division looks like being as tight again, everyone is beating everyone its a predictors nightmare, getting back to Hull if they stay up it will depend how quick they adapt to the gulf in finishing class, judging by reports from last night 4-1 was harsh but i wouldnt read too much into that.
I must admit i thought your lot would be higher than 16th with your money spent and squad, but its early days yet, only Wolves seem to have any consistency at the moment, if Jim Magilton was sacked who would you want at the helm? And remember be careful what you wish for !!
i agree with some of what you say timmy, but the thing is what we are saying is true, due to not being a settle side and playing players out of position, jims attitude of i do what i want doe'snt help and does'nt give the players much confidence in their boss. as they say the proof is in the pudding and is in the tasting. jim has had time to put a decent side together, we have had between 12-14 games at least (including friendlies & league e.t.c) to put a side together, this is a big failure, it does'nt matter what league you play in if don't have the basics in the team sorted out no matter what league no manager takes a gamble like this especially when abit of money has been spent
I must admit i do agree with the if it aint broke don`t fix it mentality, its no coincidence that titles are won where teams have used the least players, but these days of bigger squads managers try to keep everyone happy, doesnt work.
