Town came from a goal behind at half time to beat Gary Johnson's Bristol City 3-1 at Portman Road earlier tonight.
Town went behind in the fourth minute when the Town defence was everywhere, apart from where it needed to be to allow Ivan Sproule to cross into Stern Jon who headed home.
Town did warm the hands of Bristol goalkeeper Adrian Basso several times during the first half, Darren Ambrose trying unsuccessfully to beat the ‘keeper from distance with power, most notably from a free-kick that Basso had to push over.
Town levelled early in the second half when Jon Walters fired in off the post, two minutes later Pablo Counago handed Town the lead when he fired home and Town's third goal came when Liam Fontaine intercepted a pass from Jon Stead but deflected it into his own net from 20-yards.
The game looked safe until Alex Bruce received his marching orders for a tackle on Nicky Maynard, Bruce was applauded off the pitch by Town fans who want the defender to be offered and sign a new deal at Portman Road, which as it turns out is most of them.
The three points lift Town to 11th, three points behind Cardiff in 6th who visit Portman Road on Saturday.
