Giovani is making progress from his groin injury and could yet feature in World Cup action for Mexico next week.
The 19-year-old striker, on loan from Tottenham, was forced off in the first-half of Town's goalless draw with Watford last week but travelled home at the request of the Mexico national team to be checked over.
Giovani was then reported to have been ruled out of their qualifiers against Costa Rica at the weekend and Honduras next week but that is no longer the case.
"We are keeping in constant touch with the Mexico medical people and we've been told that Gio is responding to treatment," Town physio Matt Byard told the Club website.
"We will know more about his fitness after the weekend. There is a chance that he could be ready for the Wednesday game and they will know that on Monday. If he's not fit then hopefully he will be able to come back to England and will possibly have a chance to be available for the Sheffield United match.
"If he stays with Mexico then he will not be getting back to England until Friday and it will be then a case of seeing how quickly he has recovered from the trip and whether there has been any reaction to the injury."
