Sir Bobby Passes Away

Town and England legend Sir Bobby Robson has died this morning following a battle against cancer.
The 76-year-old spent 13-years as Town manager between 1969 and 1982, finishing in European placing for 9 out of 10 seasons, winning the FA Cup in 1978 and the UEFA cup in 81 before going on to manage England, taking them too the 1986 and 1990 world cups, being knocked in the quarter-finals in 86 and semi-finals in 1990.
Sir Bobby had beaten cancer 4 times previously, but despite treatment since the most recent discovery in May 2007 Sir Bobby has been unable to make a full recovery.
Sir Bobby was awarded a CBE following his time in charge of England, in 2002 he was Knighted and before the game between England and Germany on Sunday he was awarded a UEFA Order of Merit.
All across the world of football would like to pass on their condolences to Sir Bobby's family.

Legend really is not a big enough word for this great man.
He will be missed immensely by everyone conected with football all around the world.

Such sad news about Sir Bobby....one of the greatest "Ever"...My condolenses to his family....He will always be remembered at Ipswich as one of the great managers.

Just seen what he posted on Sunday following his Charity Game:
WOW !!!! What a fantastic reception I received at St James' Park on Sunday 26th July. It was one of the best night's of my life and I cant believe how many people turned up to support me and my charity. The atmosphere was amazing and the England win, thank goodness, was well deserved !!! I would personally like to to take this opportunity to thank everyone who bought a ticket for the football match or indeed anyone who has made a donation to my charity. As I keep saying, "every penny counts".
I thought the fans were really respectful when the German national anthem was played and they gave the german team a well deserved ovation at the end of the game, so I thank them for that. I thought it was a very competitive match and I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did. After all, it was all about having fun and raising money for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.
I would like to personally thank Lester Holcombe and Ciaran Kennedy of Toast Events for staging this magnificent event in my honour. I would also like to thank ITV for the wonderful programme they produced and obviously I could not have done this without the help of Newcastle United and their wonderful staff. Every player and celebrity who was involved in yesterday's match has my absolute gratitude because without them agreeing to take part it would never have happened.
I have to say that the people of the North East "did me proud", so thank you all again from the bottom of my heart.
I will let you know in due course how much the match has raised for the charity and I will keep you posted of any future charity events taking place.

Last time I saw Sir Bobby was at the Burnley away game last year we all stood as he came on thye pitch @ half time and I will never forget the smile he give and the wave. He was the greatest manager in my eyes and always had time to chat if you passed by his house in Ipswich and he was out in the garden always stopped to say hello. R.I.P Sir Bobby at least you are free of pain

I started watching Town the start of Season '82-'83 so missed him as Manager but what a legend and what a legacy.

I'm so sad today. I've dreaded this day. The man who, in my eyes, made Ipswich Town and put our little club on the world map. R.I.P King Bobby.

the greatest all round manager there was. he had the lot, (roy keane should take note). aweome, brilliant and most of all he knew how to get the best out of players with a few words of encouragement
