Keane: Defeat Was A Reality Check

Town manager Roy Keane says this evening’s defeat against Palace was a reality check following the expectations of the summer.

Keane: "There has been a lot of expectation around the place, particularly in the summer and it's been a reality check for us all, the players are aware that there is a lot of hard work in front of them and that applies to all of us. We are under no illusions and we have to take our medicine again today and move on. But hopefully there is not too much medicine to come.

"We had our chances and Owen and Jon Stead contributed to that in the second-half but we conceded three goals and two of them were bad goals to concede.

"We didn't really get going early in the second-half and we were still recovering from the first goal when they scored the second so it was always going to be hard to get something out of the game after that.

"We expressed ourselves better in the last half hour and we have to do that when we go to West Brom at the weekend."

Reality check - so much for the hype - like last year, I started the Season full of optimism - why?

Not much has changes to when JM was our boss.

Why do managers persist in tinkering and FFS - play our best players please!

What has Garvan done wrong???????

Or TWTD or Bluesweb - seems we all have a similar line up in mind but nowhere near what RK puts out!

we have one big problem, gareth macauley the non-inspirational captain, 2nd problem, no creative midfielders, garvan and trotter are no way near good enough, 3rd problem no pace up front to trouble defenders

Going to be a long time before we can resolve all those issues I fear - one thing at a time.

Goal scoring first - and it seems to get that we need a better more creative midfield!

to get a good team need to start at the back and work your way to the front, like most good footballing sides play
