Town And Toon Allowed Special Kit

The Football League have allowed Town and Newcastle United to wear special shirts when the two sides meet later this month to commemorate Sir Bobby Robson who died in July.

The shirts will feature the logo of the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and the words "Ipswich Town v Newcastle United, September 26th, 2009".

After the game, the shirts worn by both sides will be auctioned off to raise funds for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.

On the same day Town will be renaming the North Stand at Portman Road the Sir Bobby Robson Stand.

What a lovely gesture. I am delighted we will honour wor Bobby in such a way. I hope we can raise huge amounts for his charity when the shirts are auctioned.

A treasure no longer with us but forever in our hearts.

It will be an emotional day for everyone concerned.

It is indeed a great gesture, but what I'd really like to see is Town wearing either the FA Cup or UEFA Cup winning shirt.
