Keane On Wednesday Win

Town manager Roy Keane says Town’s 1-0 win against Sheffield Wednesday yesterday was a good reaction to the 3-1 defeat against Peterborough earlier in the week.

Keane: "It was a good reaction from the other night, we were hurt by the criticism from the defeat at Peterborough and I was pleased with the way the players bounced back from that.

"It was a terrific goal from Carlos. He's always got a goal in his locker and I'm surprised he has not scored more for us.

"We had other chances to have killed off the game. Jon Walters had a goal disallowed and he's not sure what for and we had breaks where we had three against one and didn't make it count.

"That's been our problem all season. We have not killed teams off but today we defended well enough to win the game.

"Brian (Murphy) didn't have too much to do but he made a couple of good saves and he looked composed," said the Town boss.

"Good goalkeepers often don't have a lot to do because they get the players in front of them organised and he can be pleased with himself.

"Shane (O'Connor) can be happy with his performance as well. He was excellent for us. He probably would have made his debut for us earlier but he had a knee injury that put him out for a while.

"He's had a good upbringing at Liverpool. You can tell that by the way he wasn't flustered when under pressure on the ball.

"It didn't work out for him there but that happens. You can get lost at big clubs. We've given him a year and he's learning all the time. He's a popular lad with the other players as well."
