Preview: Town – Sheff U

Town take on Sheffield United at Portman Road tomorrow afternoon, in the final game of what has been a forgettable season for some Town fans.

Town will be missing David Healy, who has returned to Sunderland following a knee injury, Daryl Murphy is a doubt, Carlos Edwards could be back in the squad after recovering from chicken pox. If Daryl Murphy fails to make the start Pablo Counago could come in to start up front alongside Connor Wickham.

The Town bench may include the likes of Richard Wright, Owen Garvan and Alan Quinn alongside some of Town's youngsters.

Town manager Roy Keane: "My real work starts tomorrow night, with the right players my squad can be strengthened into one that can compete for a top six place next season.

"We need players who will take us to another level - players who will go straight into the first team.

"I'm dreading tomorrow's game as it means my work really begins.

"I've a clear mind what I need and I'll not settle for less after ducking and diving last summer.

"I'll not tolerate that again - I have my targets and I'll stick to them.

"And do all in my power to get the players I want out on the pitch next season.

"It won't be easy with so many obstacles to overcome as there is in every deal."

Keane added: "Victory against the Blades will not make up for the disappointment of this season.

"Fans, players and myself will all expect more next season."

The Blades will be missing Stephen Quinn, Darius Henderson, Lee Williamson, Andy Taylor, Jordan Stewart, Ryan France, Ched Evans and Jamie Ward. However Paddy Kenny is available again.

Sheffield United manager Kevin Blackwell: "Ipswich are a good side with strength in depth and Roy has been able to spend a lot of money but they have had a tough season and it hasn't really happened for them.

"His team try to get at you early on, like to move the ball quickly and have several big, solid players, a bit like Sunderland did when Roy took them up.

"But I think in the circumstances, with the expectations upon him, that he has equipped himself well and will go on to prove beyond doubt that he is a good manager.

"Although neither of us has too much at stake, no team is just going to give up - look at us against Swansea last week when we put them to the sword.

"We don't like not having things to play for but those involved know that after this match they get a holiday so we will be going for it."
