By Sadie
September 26 2010
Sadie is back giving us her view of Town games, today it is yesterday's 1-1 draw with Scunthorpe at Glanford Park.
Welcome back to my sofa,
Today Town look to continue good form at Scunthorpe.
O'Dea and Smith return to the starting line up with Livermore joining the bench.
Town are playing from left to right in this first half as play begins, as does the F1 qualifying.
Town win the ball in the midfield with Leadbitter who plays back to McAuley, and it's back with Fullop.
Sloppy defending allows Scunthorpe to get close to the Town Goal but McAuley holds the fort and ends the attack.
Scunthorpe are coming forward, Smith trips the attacker just outside of the box, for a well positioned free kick, a poor effort see's a good opportunity wasted.
Early on in the match Town are lacking involvement and need to wake up soon before they find themselves playing catch up.
Leadbitter, Eastman, looking for Wickham, cleared by the home defence.
Good play by Scunthorpe leaves Town under pressure, Nolan inside the area, to Dagnall, they've won a corner on 10 minutes, Wright delivers the ball, another corner is won, This time played by Woolford, Town fail to clear but the attack fades out.
Elsewhere Swansea gain the lead from a penalty.
Oh very good chance for the home team as Nolan brings the ball forward with speed, its encouraging but Forte heads over, immediately off the back of that Woolford has a chance, What's going on Town? Come on!
17 minutes gone and Scunthorpe remain the better side by far, now I know I've been getting very little sleep this week being left absolutely exhausted I was worried I wouldn't be able to keep up with Town, but the problem currently lies with attack after attack by Scunthorpe as they take another 2 corners, from the 2nd Fullop misses it, Jones comes up, but a little bit of luck takes the ball out of play.
Watford are three goals up against Middlesbrough.
Town have their first corner kick of the game but it provides nothing.
Old Tractor boy Darren Bent has just brought Sunderland level with Liverpool scoring a controversial penalty.
As Scunthorpe continue to apply pressure in front of goal McAuley is the only Town player keeping the visitors from falling behind.
Byrne receives a yellow card for unsporting behaviour
Corner kick to the home team will be taken by Wright, towards far post headed away by Eastman, but its straight back to the attacking team the ball is back in the box, Mirfin scores.
1-0 to Scunthorpe and a substitution for Town see's the end of Connor Wickham replaced by Hyam to take Town from the changed 4-4-2 back to the 4-1-4-1 that has been so successful so far this season.
Leadbitter with a corner to Town, into the middle, punched away by Murphy and another Corner is taken by Townsend, it's an awful attempt which goes out for a throw to Scunthorpe by the opposite corner flag.
Town just can't keep possession as half time draws near.
Leadbitter to Edwards, in the centre with Smith, Scotland heads the ball out of the ground.
2 minutes of time has been added on to the end of thee first half and Leadbitter takes a Town corner kick the opportunity leads on to nothing.
As half time is called the home team are in the lead and Q2 closes in the Singapore Grand Prix qualifier.
Word around the ground confirms my thoughts earlier that it very much seems to be Scunthorpe V McAuley.
As the teams return the home side remain unchanged, Town make their second substitution with Peters replacing Townsend.
The attendance is confirmed as 5931, 1026 of those being travelling Town supporters.
Town have a free kick with Leadbitter around the centre circle, it's taken high and leads to a short spell of Ipswich dominated play before being knocked out for a town throw.
Darren Bent gets a second goal putting Sunderland ahead against Liverpool.
The qualifying has just completed with the usual suspects at the front of the grid as it begins to rain at the Scunthorpe ground.
Town give the ball away in midfield giving Scunthorpe the opportunity to double their lead but this time the defence are in place to stop the attack.
Norris to Leadbitter, Edwards to Scotland back to Leadbitter but its a poor delivery knocked away by Collins.
QPR take the lead to continue their excellent form.
Wright to Forte shoots at the near post but no damage done, play turns to Ipswich it's with Peters, one on one with keeper, HE SCORES
It's 1-1, Town are back in the game.
Norris head to Leadbitter, fast play for Town, Scotland is in front of goal, the goal is open, but someone comes up from behind and knocks the ball out for a corner, the corner ball is headed over by O'Dea, Scotland's head is still in his hands.
Liverpool are back even from a Gerrard goal as Town get another corner, for the first time today Town are the team on top, Leadbitters corner is headed away by Jones.
Town have another corner with Leadbitter, high to Eastman who heads the ball wide.
Ipswich Town are back on the attack the final ball is with O'Dea for whatever reason no goal this time.
Priskin is warming up at the side and signs of a Scunthorpe substitution have been mentioned.
There is about 20 minutes left to play as I notice the team my family have gone to support today are a goal down in the blue square premier division.
Byrne has a throw, its taken down the right wing but the ball runs away from him and out for a Fullop goal kick.
Luke Hyam is in place to block a shot giving the home team a corner, by Woolford, but Town get an immediate grasp of the ball and begin to head up field
.
Priskin is the 3rd player to come off the bench and onto the pitch, taking the place of Scotland.
West Brom are giving Arsenal an absolute showing having gone 3 goals up before Arsenal got one back.
Scunthorpe have a throw, they lose the advantage when Wright gives away the ball which Town send forward immediately but a Scunthorpe defender blocks the attacking ball.
Another chance quickly follows buts I can't tell you much of what happened as my net book froze yet again, the attack ends with a Peters ball cleared off the line.
As Scunthorpe head into the Town box O'Dea clears the danger and Town head goal ward again gaining a corner, Taken by Leadbitter but no one can latch onto it, Scunthorpe counter attack and end up with a corner which is an easy catch for Fullop.
Scunthorpe break McAuley is there with a great tackle to deflect the ball away from goal and out for another corner.
Into the final 10 and Scunthorpe are back on top, but some good news being that local rivals Norwich have gone a goal down.
Edwards on the right wing, he waited too long allowing Scunthorpe players time to get back and defend their goal.
A double substitution is made for the home team with 7 minutes of play left, Collins and Wright make way for O'Connor and Grant
A rare mistake by McAuley allows an attack at goal for Scunthorpe but pressure by Smith see's the score remain the same.
A good opportunity for Scunthorpe to regain the lead is scuffed.
Norwich are now 2 goals down at home against Hull.
1 minute left of the 90 to play.
Grant trying to escape from Peters, the cross comes into the Town box but is easily controlled by Town keeper Fullop.
3 minutes of time has been added on as Arsenal get a second goal back against West Broms 3
Norwich have been beaten by Hull as play seems to be winding down in preparation for the whistle.
Scunthorpe take the opportunity to speed things up and catch Town off guard.
All the reporters on SSN are going crazy as the final whistle is blown at Scunthorpe ending a nerve wracking afternoon.
That's all from my sofa this afternoon, I'm off to get some soothers, am I the only one who whether watching it live, on T.V or listening on the radio, still screams my head off?
Until next time...
