Preview: Town – Barnsley

Town take on Barnsley at Portman Road tomorrow afternoon, without a number of key first team players.

Town will be missing, David Norris, Grant Leadbitter and Gareth McAuley will all miss the game tomorrow while defensive duo Darren O'Dea and Mark Kennedy are unlikely to be risked.

Town manager Roy Keane: "We are losing senior players but we have to deal with it, young players will come into it and they won't let us down. The challenge for them is to go out there and grab their opportunity. They will give 100 per cent and we will see where it takes us.

"We need to bounce back after Tuesday, obviously. Get back to basics. We have to stop giving bad goals away and if we do concede one, then don't give another one away. Stay in the game."

The visitors will be missing a handful of players as Barnsley boss Mark Robins explains: "Luke Potter has had his operation today and will be out for between four and six weeks. It is another blow for him as he had the same thing last year and an op earlier this season. It is disappointing for the lad and another blow for us, it leaves us with a bit of a headache and we will have to look to bring someone in because we are light there. There is nothing yet and will be nothing before the weekend but we will keep looking and hopefully someone will become available.

"We will have to do something this time because there is a loan deadline approaching and we probably need a couple in. The Premier League's 25 man squad has worked against teams in the Championship but our main priority right now is this weekend's game at Ipswich.

"Matt Hill has gone back to Wolves and probably will not be fit until the New Year. Jay McEveley is healing and working through his rehab. We are still looking at February but, knowing Jay, he will probably be back before then.

"There is nothing else really for the weekend. We are going to Ipswich on the back of a good result and a good performance. It was much needed and hopefully it will give us a bit of impetus going into a difficult game.

"We are going down to Ipswich in good spirits and hopefully we will be coming back that way as well. We have not won back to back games this season and that is the challenge tomorrow.

"Ipswich are a good side who have made a good start to the season. They will be looking to avenge their defeat in midweek. We are not getting carried away and we have not yet won two on the bounce this season".
