From The Sofa: Town 1-3 Swansea

December 4 2010

G'day would be an appropriate greeting seeing as how I've been living on Australian time although as the Aussies sleep I'm up and ready for another sports fix.

An array of reasons has stopped me reporting from the sofa for a number of games, most common being my computor crashing at the same point in every game, lets hope being an earlier kick off, we can catch this thing out and hopefully finish the game.

It's been a week of mixed emotions for the Tractor Boys with quite a humiliating defeat at the hands of our rivals onto further success in the cup drawing us against Arsenal for the semi's.

Back to the league today but not from my sofa, nope today I am in the warmth of my bed, bringing you this report courtesy of Sky Sports 2 match coverage.

The players are lined up and ready to enter the field,

Swansea kick off the match in a rather empty Portman Road, many probably taking advantage of it being on the telebox and staying inside

Town go into ths match in 17th place in the league table, a win today could take us back into the top half. For our visitors a win could take them into joint second.

Late in the second minute Town have an attempt of a goal attack which fizzles out at the Swansea box.

The pitch lines are painted blue today, I don't know if that is a regular thing now, or wether it has been done to stand out from the snow.

Beattie has brought the ball to the Town box twice in the first six minutes but there's been no real threat.

Priskin is down after an elbow in the head in the attacking half, the Physio on the attention is on his left knee but he's soon up to run it off.

Swansea are in play, Sinclair wins a free kick just outside of the Town box, tried to take quickly but the ref brought the ball back for a second take, the ball was played across instead of into the box, to the player in line with goal, who takes a shot and is well off target.

Town have a chance when the ball unexpectedly lands with Priskin in the Swansea box, but the oppertunity is wasted.

Town's inacurate passing keeps giving play back to the visitors in Town pass, they need to be dong better than this.

Town continue to slack in the danger area and are given a reprive by the ref as the ball continues to bounce between Teams.

Town have a spell of better play but cant break through the swansea back line.

20 minutes gone now and play is rather even with few oppertunities for either team to go ahead.

Town have a free kick just inside thier own half, it's taken long into the attacking box, but is quickly cleared.

Sinclair finds himself in a good position in front of goal but his strike falls slightly wide and is caught by Town keeper Murphy, standing in for the injured Fullop.

Swansea are attacking the area again gets the ball in but Edwards is in place to head the ball away, before there is time to breathe a sigh of relief the visitors are pushing forward again.

possession stats state that in the first half an hour Town have had just 33% Swansea have enjoyed a healthly 67% as Beattie strikes again, but caught well by Murphey.

Town finally have some decent possession and we're with Scotland, he works the ball through the defenders and strikes, the ball flies past the side of the post and grants Town a corner, nothing comes from it.

35 minutes gone and Town have a throw in the attacking half, Edwards to Townsend, Swansea intercept and clear.

Whilst Leadbitter recieves some physio treatment on pitch, Edwards changes his boots from bright pink, to bright yellow.

Priskin has the ball, surrounded by 3 swansea defenders, he gets through but is off target.

Back to back goal attempts leads the Town fans to thier vocal chords, oh so briefly.

O'Dea recieves a yellow for a harsh challenge on the Swansea no.24 and a Swansea corner follows, the ball is defended out for a throw to the visitors, back into play and a free kick is given to Towns advantage.

Half time is approaching and Town have a free kick deep into the Swansea half, Leadbitter takes but can not beat the first line of defence.

Town have a corner for Edwards to take as 2 minutes play is added onto the end of the half, the corner ball comes in and there's a great strike low on goal from the head of Brown, well saved.

Now that it's half time I'm gunna have a look for a way of saving what I have to this point In case this piece of junk crashes again

And we're back both teams return the same and Town get this match re-started.

Priskin finds some space with the ball in front of the Swansea box, not that he puts it to good use or anything.

Swansea have a corner, cleared as far as sinclair who sends the ball back down to goal where it's recieved into saftey by Murphey.

Priskin, Edwards, Leadbitter, back to Edwards, crosses the ball into the attacking box where Townsend is ready, heads the ball towards goal, he's beaten the keeper and it's in the net.

1-0 to Town on 50 minutes.

Whilst away from my keyboard taking medication, Town come close to goal again but not close enough in the 54th minute.

As of yet Swansea have not responded to Town going ahead.

Swansea have the ball but it's intercepted by Edwards and play is back with Town.

Rangel recieves a booking against Townsend.

Townsend is on the other side of a challenge in the 62nd minute, and before i'm aware the kick has been taken it's in the net, hmm.

The equalising goal was scored by Craig Beattie.

Fallon comes on for Priskin for his home debut on 66 minutes.

Swansea are looking for a second, it's a great ball into the box where Beattie swings the ball well over goal and into the stands.

Leadbitter to Townsend, into the attacking half finds Fallon in the Swansea box, he can't control the ball.

Now it's in the Town Box no one in blue responds allowing Allen to nick the ball from a sleeping Tractor Boy and taps it into the net and just like that in the 70th minute Town are behind.

Apparently O'Connor has come on for O'Dea, can't say I noticed honestly.

A change for Swansea see's Orlandi make way for Pratley.

With just over 10 minutes left of normal time to play I feel my body reacting to the utter dribble on my T.V, with a stomach ache and a bout of Acid reflux sitting here, watching this right now couldn't be more uncomfortable if the X factors Mary and Wagner were in the corner having a love-in.

The 3rd change for Ipswich has taken place with Peters replacing goal scorer Townsend.

In the 84th minute Town have no desire to drag themselves up from the pit of the league and the 5th consecutive league defeat.

A penalty appeal is denied for the home team, and it seems the Tractor Boys were so fussed with arguing over this penalty they forgot that play continued and down the other end Swansea take advantage of no one being around and net a third.

1-3, with just a few minutes remaining another substitution for the visitors sees Dyer make way for Dobbie.

Well oh well Town you've got 5 minutes added on, you can either continue looking like a scoulded puppy, or you can start trying to earn your money and a bit of self respect.

3 minutes into added time and a fresh legged Peters tries to coach an attack but the lack of spirit and direction means Swansea have nothing to worry about.

The 5 minutes are now up and Swansea push forward, Town defend to the final whistle.
