McParland Disappointed With Defeat

Town caretaker manager Charlie McParland is understandably disappointed with Town's 7-0 defeat against Chelsea earlier today.

McParland: "We did okay for half an hour and then we switched off and when you play against teams of this calibre, they punish you, the players are hurting, I'm hurting but we have to lift ourselves, the players have to lift themselves for Wednesday night.

"We have to remember who we were playing. Chelsea scored seven, eight and nine in the Premier League last season but as professionals, we are very disappointed with the manner of the defeat.

"It's a difficult time when a manager leaves a club and you are waiting for a new man to come in but the club has to move forward - hopefully the new man will be in before Wednesday!"

Charlie had special praise for the Town fans, adding: "They were fantastic and kept going to the end. This club has a lot of good things about it and the supporters are one of them."
