Jewell Praises Players

Town manager Paul Jewell has praised Town's players for the way they came from behind to beat Doncaster Rovers at Portman Road earlier today.

Town went behind after 5 minutes to a Billy Sharp goal but Town had the lead at the hour mark with goals from David Norris and Connor Wickham, only for Billy Sharp to equalise for the visitors 40 seconds later. Carlos Edwards restored Town's lead with a 25-yard effort that deflected in during the 64th minute.

Jewell: "We didn't play well in the first-half but the players deserve a lot of credit for turning things around in the second-half, you could tell the players were a bit edgy and we said to them at half-time to have some belief and they showed a lot of character to come back from behind to go in front, then to be pulled back to 2-2 straight away, then to go ahead again.

"We changed the shape in the first-half because they were passing the ball well. We got closer to them in the second-half in the middle of the park and David Norris' goal was obviously important.

"The crowd got behind the players and it's amazing how that can give players a real lift. It was like two different teams. We had a lot of shots at goal and it could have finished 7-4 in the end."
