Joe Admits Scowie Interest

Ipswich Town manager Joe Royle has admitted he is interested in signing Leicester City front man Jamie Scowcroft.

Royle did try to sign Scowcroft during his time at Manchester City while Scowcroft was making 248 appearances for Ipswich. With the recent change of manager at the Walker stadium there is a real possibility that Jamie will be returning to home Town club but Joe Royle is in no rush to bring him in.

Royle: “I have been asking about bringing in players on loan now for a while.

“Scowcroft is one that I have asked about and unfortunately our enquiry has come out when I rather it hadn't.

“He's a player that I have admired for a long time and I asked Ipswich about him when I was at Manchester City.

“But we are not desperate to bring anyone in, we are top scorers at home and away in the Championship so we are not exactly struggling to score goals.”

Royle also ruled out a permanent signing until at least the summer, adding: “It will be a while before this Club signs someone on a permanent deal, our finances have to be kept under order and it will probably be the summer - depending on what division we are in - before we will be able to bring in anyone on a permanent deal.”
