Ipswich Town striker Pablo Couñago has turned the chance to spend time on loan at championship side Preston North End.

Preston boss Billy Davies was looking to bolster his attacking options after David Healy moved to Leeds United last week and made an enquiry about the Spaniard , who has been out of favour this season at Portman road with Darren Bent and Shefki Kuqi being Town’s front two.

Ipswich Town manager Joe Royle has said: “Preston have been on to us about Pablo and asked to take him on a month's loan, I thought it would be good for him to get some regular first-team football under his belt but Pablo said no to the move.

“That's the end of it as far as we're concerned and he will be in contention for Saturday's game against Leeds.”
