Ipswich Town captain Jim Magilton has no plans to retire at the end of his Town contract and would like to keep playing until the ripe old age of 50.

Jim, 35 is out of contract with Ipswich at the end of the season by which time he wouldn’t be far off the 300 game mark, having just crossed the 250 mark.

Jim has said: “Reaching 250 games for the Club was a lovely milestone for me and I'm enjoying my football as much as ever, I'm surrounded by great crop of lads here and if I have my way I'll set off for another 250 games in a Town shirt.

“I don't know what's around the corner for me though but I certainly have no intention of hanging up my boots just yet.

“I still feel I have something to offer on the park and want to carry on playing as long as I can, maybe for another year or two, or even longer. Whether that is here or not remains to be seen.

“Coaching is something that interests me in the future but someone once said to me that you are a long time retired and as soon as you stop playing, you'll miss it so I intend to play as long as I feel I have something to offer on the pitch. Knowing me I'll still be going at 50!”
