Board Re-Elected At AGM

All eight members if the Ipswich Town PLC board were re-elected at last nights annual general meeting of shareholders.

Only 32 hands in total were shown against the board, 8 for Chairman David Sheepshanks, 6 voted against John Kerr and Richard Moore and 12 against Philip Hope-Cobbold.

A Proposal to elect a supporters' representative on to the PLC’s board was defeated by 220 to 82, Town chairman David Sheepshanks hoped that wouldn’t divide Town share holders, saying: “I hope our support will remain united. As a board of directors it is our job to stay in tune with supporters' views. We have to recognise that strong views have been expressed both for and against. The shareholders have decided but we will carry on listening to all supporters.”

A show of hands hinted that the majority of shareholder would welcome another share issue and Town chairman Sheepshanks said one would only take place if all funds were for Joe Royle’s squad, saying: “Whether we have another share issue is a matter that is being kept under careful review, and on which we will continue to take soundings from supporters for their appetite. If we were to undertake a share issue, then it would be on the basis that all proceeds were solely for investments in strengthening the squad.”
