Ipswich Town defender Matt Richards is playing the waiting game after finding him self on the fringes of the Town squad this season.

The 19 year old left back started this season in Joe Royle’s plans but a foot injury saw Fabian Wilnis and Drissa Diallo take the full back positions leaving Matt on the bench, but although he admits its frustrating sitting on the bench he can see why he’s been left there for so long.

Richards: “It has been quite frustrating for me because every player wants to be out on the pitch, but the team have been playing well, the defence has been looking strong so there has been little reason to change things around.

“It means I have to be patient and just continue to work hard in training and play well in the reserves and wait until my chance comes along.

“It's obviously not the same playing in the reserves as it is in League games but I have still enjoyed it.

“It's important to keep my match fitness ticking over and I've got to play well in the reserves to push my case for a return to the first-team.”
