Joe Pleased For Santos
Ipswich Town manager Joe Royle is pleased that former Town defender George Santos has done so well since joining QPR in the summer.
The French defender who has got four goals for QPR this season was allowed to leave Portman Road on a free transfer after spending just over a year.
Town manager Joe Royle couldn’t not be happier for him, saying: “He's a lovely guy, Georges and it wasn't a case of getting rid of him when he left us, it was a case of giving him an opportunity to play first-team football, we knew that Jason De Vos and Richard Naylor were going to be our first choice central defenders and we had the back up of Drissa Diallo and the promise of Aidan Collins.
“So it was clear that we didn't need five central defenders and I am pleased that it has turned out to be a good move for Georges.
“He received a bit of stick I think after getting taken off at half-time in his first or second game but since then things have got better and better for him and he has played a big part in their success.”
