Ipswich Town midfielder Darren Currie is glad to finally be playing at this level after nearly 10 years in the bottom half of the league.

Currie was released by West Ham and then moved on to Shrewsbury, Plymouth, Barnet, Wycombe and joined Brighton in the summer before Town snapped him up for £250,000 last month.

Currie has said: “Playing here has opened up my eyes to what I have been missing all these years.

“I have always felt confident that I could play at this level. It has just taken me a long time to get here but now I'm here I intend to enjoy every minute of it.

“I said to family and friends that I always thought it would be easier to play at Ipswich than it was at Brighton.

“With all due respect to Brighton, there are better players here and being a good passing team, it has suited my game as well.

“Things are going well for me and the team at the moment and I think it would be even more special for me personally if we win promotion to the Premiership because it has taken me so long to get to this level.”
