The Ipswich Town reserve team chalked up just their second win of the season after beating the Portsmouth second string 1-0 at Portman Road yesterday.

A single Matt Richards goal was enough to hand to Town reserve side their first home win of the campaign an move them to within one point of Derby County who sit second bottom of the FA premier reserve league south.

Although it was Richards who got the goal most of the plaudits must go to former Arsenal youngster Dean McDonald who had the skill of the Pablo Couñago two years ago and the work rate of Shefki Kuqi.

Up until the goal Portsmouth had been the better side but Town were probably better value for the win.
