Ipswich Town manager Joe Royle would be delighted if Town are writing cheque to Sheffield Wednesday come May.

Town will have no choice but to write a cheque to Wednesday if they get promoted as part of the deal that saw Shefki Kuqi move from Hillsborough to Portman Road 18 months ago and Town who currently top the championship table could aid Wednesday’s push for the play-offs in league one or possibly survival in the championship next season.

Town manager Joe Royle: “I would dearly love us to be writing out a cheque. I think even Shefki's biggest critics would have to agree he has done extremely well for us.

“He has been terrific since the day he came here. His enthusiasm is infectious, he has natural charm that everyone at the club loves and he has shown what he can do out on the pitch.”
