Ipswich Town striker Dean Bowditch has signed a new three and a half year contract that will keep him at Portman Road until the summer of 2008.

Ipswich Town striker Dean Bowditch has signed a new three and a half year contract that will keep him at Portman Road until the summer of 2008.

The 18-year-old striker who has came though the academy ranks at Portman Road has followed the lead of midfielder Ian Westlake who signed a new deal just before Christmas.

Town Chairman David Sheepshanks and Manager Joe Royle are both understandably delighted that Dean, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool has signed a new contract.

Sheepshanks: “Like all Town fans I am delighted that Dean has pledged his future to Ipswich Town.

“It shows our determination and commitment to secure our best young talents for the long term benefit of this football club.

“Like Ian Westlake, Dean has developed through our highly successful Academy system and we can now look forward to him progressing as a footballer at Ipswich Town over the next three and a half years.”

Royle added: “It great that one of the best young talents Ipswich Town has seen for many years has pledged his future to the Club.”
