Ipswich Town have today landed Portsmouth defender David Unsworth on loan for the next three months.

Ipswich Town have today landed Portsmouth defender David Unsworth on loan for the next three months.

The 31-year-old defender will meet his new team mates on Monday when they return from a break in Tenerife, Unsworth was part of the Everton side that won the FA Cup in 1995 under the management of Joe Royle.

Joe Royle: “I have known David a long time, we worked together at Everton and he is an experienced professional who has spent his entire career in the Premiership.

“When I saw that things were changing around at Portsmouth I made contact with a view to bringing David in, and I am delighted he has agreed to join us for what is effectively the remainder of the season.”

Unsworth will be with for the reminder of the league campaign apart from the final league games home against Crewe and away at Brighton, the capture of Unsworth finally gives Town some more options at the back with Jason De Vos and Richard Naylor having more competition for the two starting places.
