Ipswich Town defender Richard Naylor would back Town manager Joe Royle should he wish to bring Jamie Scowcroft back to Portman Road.

Scowcroft who returns with his current side Leicester City tomorrow has been linked with a move to Portman Road with Joe Royle well known to be an admirer of the 29-year-old.

Scowcroft is out of contract at the walkers Stadium in the summer and Naylor believes he will have no problem picking up work.

Naylor: “I see Scowie as a Premier League player and whatever happens that's where I think he will be playing his football next season.

“Several clubs have apparently shown an interest in him and if he chooses to leave Leicester I can't see him being short of offers.

“I am sure he would love to come back here and, as a quality player, he would be a welcome addition to our squad.

“I know Joe likes him but it's still early days. We'll just have to wait and see.”
