Royle’s Reaction: LCFC
Reaction from Ipswich Town manager Joe Royle after Town beat Leicester City 2-1 earlier today at Portman Road.
Royle: “I expected Wigan and Sunderland to win and they did, so it was a big three points for us again and keeps up in a good position, that said, we didn't play well although the atrocious conditions didn't help our passing game with the wind playing havoc with the ball.
“We were two goals up at half-time but just about scrambled across the line at that point because we weren't on our game at all.
“We played a little better in the second-half and Benty and Westy had chances but at this stage, results are more important than the performance.
“Kelvin made one outstanding save in the first-half and one good save as well and the defence were strong again in front of him.
“They scored with a fantastic free-kick to set up the last 10 minutes but I never felt they would get another goal.
“I saw the phrase winning ugly last week but if that's what it is, winning when you don't play well then I'll take it.”
