Davis Penalty Concern

Ipswich Town goalkeeper Kelvin Davis has admitted he thought he had given away a penalty during Town’s game against Gillingham today.

Davis had thought he brought down Gills striker Darius Henderson in the box but the referee today, Mr Brian Curson instead booked Henderson for a dive.

Davis: “I heard the whistle and for a second I thought the ref had given a penalty, I was raging but when I got up and saw him pointing the other way my anger turned towards the player.

“He made no effort to go for the ball and was clearly looking for the penalty. I can understand that but a goalkeeper's job is hard enough without that going on as well.”
