Rhodes Praises Davis

Ipswich Town goalkeeping coach Andy Rhodes has praised Town ‘keeper Kelvin Davis saying he would cope in the premier league.

The 28-year-old kept his third clean sheet on the spin in Town’s draw with Gillingham on Saturday and that has prompted Rhodes to come out and say Davis would be able to cope in the premiership.

Rhodes: “I am hard pushed to name many better goalkeepers in the Premiership. I would certainly not swap Kelvin for Robert Green who has received plenty of praise since Norwich won promotion and is now the number three in the England set-up.

“Kelvin is such a determined guy and he was in last week when the other players were off. He is at least a seven-out-of-10 man every week. This is what you want in a goalkeeper, not one that may be nine one week and five the next.

“Kelvin is so consistent and he is also great with our two other keepers Lewis Price and Shane Supple. He is brilliant with them and has got them involved in yoga, which they do before training.”
