Mowbray Gets Award

Former Ipswich Town coach Tony Mowbray has been named the Scottish Football Writers manager of the season.
Mowbray who left Town last summer
to take charge at Scottish premier league side Hibernian has now be rewarded for
taking them to third in the SPL and the Scottish FA Cup semi-final. But rather
than take all the praise him self he has been quick to praise the work of the
back room staff and players.
Mowbray: “It is great to receive the award but it is overall recognition for the football club. A lot of credit has to go to Mark Venus and the other coaches. We inherited a lot of good young players from Academy director John Park and they have worked hard to get to where we are.
“The award won't mean anything if
we don't finish third, which is almost like winning the league here, and
qualifying for
“For our lads to go to Celtic and
win 3-1 was testament to the players and beating one of the Old Firm in front of
60,000 at Celtic Park bodes well for next season.”
Also getting a SFW
award is Young Hibs striker Derek Riordan who received the SFW Young
Player of the year award for his 22-goals so far this season.
On a personal note, I’m happy that
Mowbray has been awarded for his work over the last year but highly disappointed
that Hibs didn’t make the Scottish Cup final because I had £10 on them to win it
at 14/1!
